1986 Monte Carlo LS, 4.3L 6cyl, automatic. The frame is solid on this one! The car is currently inspected and on the road. The trans shifts fine, and the engine runs great and doesn’t smoke, or knock. I’ve taken this car on long road trips; and had no problems at all. Gas mileage is pretty good as well. It should be getting around 19-21 mpg. The only two mechanical issues it has is a small exhaust leak, and the power steering pump leaking. For now, I’ve just kept topping off the power steering fluid. And, I had patched the exhaust leak up once already. The leak is in the tailpipe right before the muffler. The brakes are good, and I just replaced all four shocks a few months ago. The headliner is starting to come down as is typical of these cars. I have a brand new high quality headliner that I purchased for this car. It’s a better quality headliner then the OEM headliner…..this one is backed by plastic instead of that nasty foam board. It cost over $300.00. I also have a brand new set of LS taillights; which cost over $80.00 a piece. The third break light housing has a hole in the top of it where an oversized bulb had melted it. I didn’t do this! Lol! I have another third break light housing to replace it. I also replaced the passenger side front turn signal lense with an original unit. A few other things I picked up for the car: new windshield washer fluid reservoir, front seat arm rest, lower rear quarter panel marker light/housing, and an SS spoiler. I have around $700.00 wrapped up in parts alone! There is some surface rust on the car, and some of the trim is off. I believe I have all of the trim pieces that are off of the body. This car is not perfect; but also not a basket case. This car would make a great daily driver, or first car. It’t dependable. The odometer reads over 200,000 miles; but since the engine runs so strong and doesn’t smoke it leads me to believe that it was either well cared for or rebuilt at one time. I tend to think it was just well cared for because of how long these 4.3’s last. I have over $2,800.00 invested into the car with everything mentioned above. I am asking $1,900.00 for it with the rally wheels. One center cap is missing though. The tires are like new, with about 3,000 miles on them; however, the white letter side was turned to the inside since these photos were taken. I’ll let the car go for $1,500.00 with out the rally wheels; and with all the extras mentioned above. I had plans on restoring this car; but other things got in the way. I should mention that I have a clear title; which is in my name. I’ll only accept cash in person upon final sales agreement………...pick up only…….I will not deliver or ship the car to you. Feel free to drop me a line via e-mail (lowcab36@epix.net); or by phone (570-289-4345) if you have any other questions that the pictures or my description have not answered. ……..thanks, Ed |
